La realidad hoy en día es que mucha gente no lee el Corán. / The reality today is that many people do not read the Quran.
Por un lado, el Corán está en árabe clásico, también conocido como fusha, pero no muchos de nosotros sabemos árabe, y mucho menos fusha. / On one hand, the Quran is in classical Arabic, also known as fusha, but not many of us know Arabic, let alone fusha.
Además, los eruditos conocen el flujo, el contexto y la estructura del Corán, pero no necesariamente el ciudadano de a pie. / Furthermore, scholars know the flow, context, and structure of the Quran, but not necessarily the average citizen.
El objetivo del Proyecto Zamzam es darte una idea de cómo el Corán responde a algunas de estas importantes preguntas. / The goal of Project Zamzam is to give you an idea of how the Quran answers some of these important questions.
Para ello, creamos breves vídeos animados en un español sencillo. / To do this, we create short animated videos in simple Spanish.
Estos vídeos explicarán los principales temas, conceptos e historias de cada Sura o capítulo del Corán. / These videos will explain the main themes, concepts, and stories of each Surah or chapter of the Quran.
Para mostrarte cómo sería, hemos querido compartir contigo la historia de Zamzam y por qué elegimos Zamzam como nombre de nuestro proyecto. / To show you what it would be like, we wanted to share with you the story of Zamzam and why we chose Zamzam as the name of our project.
Para quienes no lo sepan, Zamzam es un pozo de la ciudad de La Meca, en la actual Arabia Saudí. / For those who do not know, Zamzam is a well in the city of Mecca, in present-day Saudi Arabia.
La historia de Zamzam comienza hace unos 4000 años, cuando Dios ordena a Abraham que lleve a su esposa Hajar y a su hijo pequeño Ismael a un valle vacío de la Península arábiga. / The story of Zamzam begins about 4000 years ago, when God commands Abraham to take his wife Hajar and their young son Ishmael to an empty valley in the Arabian Peninsula.
Siguiendo las instrucciones de Dios, Abraham los deja y viaja de vuelta a casa. / Following God's instructions, Abraham leaves them and travels back home.
Pronto, Hajar e Ismael se quedan sin agua. / Soon, Hajar and Ishmael run out of water. Hajar entra en pánico y corre frenéticamente entre dos colinas buscando agua desesperadamente. / Hajar panics and runs frantically between two hills desperately searching for water.
Reza a Dios pidiéndole que la salve a ella y a su hijo. / She prays to God asking Him to save her and her son.
Con Ismael en el suelo llorando y pataleando, de repente brota agua de debajo de sus pies. / With Ishmael on the ground crying and kicking, water suddenly gushes out from under his feet.
Hajar se apresura a contener el agua y dice "zumi zumi", que en su lengua significa "que deje de fluir, que deje de manar", y empieza a construir una barrera a su alrededor. / Hajar rushes to contain the water and says "zumi zumi," which in her language means "stop flowing, stop gushing," and begins to build a barrier around it.
Por sus propias palabras, este pozo pasó a conocerse como el pozo de Zamzam. / Because of her own words, this well became known as the Zamzam well.
Más tarde, a medida que las caravanas y tribus viajan por la zona y descubren el pozo de Zamzam, muchos de ellos deciden asentarse cerca del pozo y levantan sus tiendas para vivir allí. / Later, as caravans and tribes travel through the area and discover the Zamzam well, many of them decide to settle near the well and pitch their tents to live there.
Con el tiempo, este valle sin vida se convierte en un nuevo hogar para mucha gente y nace la ciudad de La Meca. / Over time, this lifeless valley becomes a new home for many people and the city of Mecca is born.
El pozo de Zamzam era la principal fuente de vida de esta nueva comunidad y, cientos de años después, se convirtió en el lugar de nacimiento de Muhammad, el último mensajero y profeta de Dios. / The Zamzam well was the main source of life for this new community and, hundreds of years later, it became the birthplace of Muhammad, the last messenger and prophet of God.
Uno de los milagros de Zamzam es la promesa de que nunca se quedará sin agua, seguirá siendo fuente de vida hasta el fin de los tiempos. / One of the miracles of Zamzam is the promise that it will never run out of water; it will continue to be a source of life until the end of time.
