When I read that the war in Gaza had reached its second full year, I couldn’t help but think:
- Two entire years of waking up to heartbreaking headlines.
- Two years of reading daily news briefings.
- Two years of watching videos released by both sides of the war.
- What if I had spent most of that time praying for them instead?
- What if, alongside every duʿāʾ, I had memorized just one verse of the Qur’an each day?
By now, I would have memorized Sūrat al-Baqarah and Sūrat Āl ʿImrān.
عندما قرأتُ في الأخبار أنَّ الحرب على غزَّة قد أكملت عامين كاملين، لم أستطع إلا أن أتساءل:
- عامان كاملان من الاستيقاظ على الأخبار المفجعة.
- عامان من متابعة الملخصات الإخبارية يومًا بعد يوم.
- عامان من مشاهدة المقاطع التي ينشرها طرفا الحرب.
- ماذا لو أنني قضيتُ معظم هذا الوقت في الدعاء لهم بدلًا من متابعة الأخبار؟
- وماذا لو حفظتُ، مع كل دعاء، آيةً واحدةً فقط من القرآن الكريم كل يوم؟
لكنتُ اليوم قد أتممتُ حفظ سورة البقرة وسورة آل عمران.
